Finesse and four-wave mixing in microresonators

چکیده
We elaborate a comprehensive theory of the sharp variations four-wave-mixing (FWM) threshold happening with tuning pump frequency along dispersive tails nonlinear resonance in driven Kerr microresonators high finesses and finesse dispersions. Our leads to explicit estimates for difference powers required excitation one sideband pair momenta $\pm\mu$, simultaneous two neighbouring pairs $\pm(\mu+1)$. This power also measures depth Arnold tongues pump-frequency pump-power parameter space, associated aforementioned variations. A set select frequencies powers, where instabilities come first, forms complexity, which is followed by sequence conditions specifying critical three, four so on pairs. formally link dispersion density states notion borrowed from condensed matter context report value mode number signalling transition low- high-contrast tongue structure. demonstrate that large makes possible surprising multimode resonators regime bistability without FWM.

Triply resonant coherent four-wave mixing in silicon nitride microresonators.
Generation of multiple tones using four-wave mixing (FWM) has been exploited for many applications, ranging from wavelength conversion to frequency comb generation. FWM is a coherent process, meaning that its dynamics strongly depend on the relative phase among the waves involved. The coherent nature of FWM has been exploited for phase-sensitive processing in different waveguide structures, but...

Abstract We investigate the interplay between six-wave mixing (SWM) and four-wave mixing (FWM) resulting from atomic coherence and polarization beat in a four-level atomic system. The dressed FWM evolution and competition pathways can be controlled by the coupling field to exhibit two FWM and SWM turning points, FWM+SWM, and FWM+FWM interference regions. Quantum interference between two FWM or ...

We report on the development of a superresolution four-wave mixing microscope with spatial resolution approaching 130 nm which represents better than twice the diffraction limit at 800 nm while retaining the ability to acquire materials- and chemical- specific contrast. The resolution enhancement is achieved by narrowing the microscope's excitation volume in the focal plane through the combined...
